Last term the Grade 1/2’s studied the environment and learnt different ways they can help the environment and the world reduce it’s carbon emissions. This morning some of the Grade 1/2 classes at Hawthorn West Primary School formed a human sign of the magic number “350”. A photo was taken of the children holding up their pictures they had created about how we can help our environment.
The significance of the number 350 was explained to the children, that scientists believe this is upper limit of carbon that is safe in the atmosphere and that all the things that they are doing at home and at school will help reach this number. The photo was taken to be sent to the world leaders in Copenhagen to encourage them to reach a global agreement on climate change and decide on 350 as the global target.
